    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain good CO detection sensitivity for a long period of time, by determining the timing of a heat cleaning based on a prescribed measuring time, in the case where a CO detection element for catalytic reaction to CO gas in exhaust gas is suitably raised of the temperature thereof for heat cleaning of the CO detection element. SOLUTION: A controller 14 of a water heater which is a combustor controls the operation of the water heater by a water heater control part 19 via various driving circuits 20 to 22 based on the CO concentration in exhaust gas detected by a CO sensor 16. A CO sensor control part 25 of the CO sensor 16 increases the electric power to a CO detection element 17 by means of a CO detection element driving circuit 24 based on a command signal from the water heater control part 19 for heat cleaning thereof. In this case, the water heater control part 19 is equipped with a fixed time timer 26, in the case where one combustion or more occurred within the fixed time measured by the fixed time timer, heat cleaning of the CO sensor 16 is accomplished by outputting the command signal from the water heater control part 19.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent hot water discharge quantity from a hot water discharge tap from decreasing at the time of occurrence of hot water discharge during instantaneous water heating operation by stopping a circulation drive means upon reception of a hot water discharge tap use detection signal from a heat source unit side during instantaneous water heating operation executed by circulating hot water by the circulation drive means. SOLUTION: An instantaneous water heater 14 comprises primarily a hot water supply pipe 16, a return pipe 17 and a controller 18, and the hot water supply pipe 16 supplies hot water supplied by the heat source unit 12 to an end tap 28 through a circulation pipe 15. When an instantaneous hot water switch 30 of a remote controller 13 is turned on, a controller 18 sets instantaneous hot water set temperature at a temperature equal to hot water discharge set temperature. Then, if temperature of hot water within the return pipe 17 becomes not higher than the instantaneous hot water set temperature, a circulation pump 23 is activated to start instantaneous water heating operation so that hot water is circulated in the direction designated by a solid line arrow. If during instantaneous water heating operation the end tap 28 is opened and the heat source unit 12 starts combustion operation, operation of the circulation pump 23 is interrupted to stop instantaneous water heating operation upon reception of a combustion signal.
