摘要： PURPOSE:To utilize a by-product tar in the manufacture of formed coke through a shaft furnace as a binder for the briquetted coal which is in short supply, by dissolving a bituminous substance having, a specific softening point in the tar simply pretreated. CONSTITUTION:Tar, formed in the carbonization of briquetted coal by direct heating with a high-temperature gas in a shaft furnace, is simply desludged, dehydrated, and heated in briquetting to remove the low-boiling components which distill away up to 200 deg.C and foam the coal in heating, and a bituminous substance having a softening point of 50-400 deg.C is dissolved in the tar and utilized as a binder for the coal. As shown in the figure, the method requires no tar distillation step and is useful for saving energy.

摘要： PURPOSE:To make it possible to cool coke fully with a shaft furnace sealed by a simple and cheap device, by cooling a briquette coke carbonized in the furnace with a cooling gas, followed by introducing it into a water sealing device. CONSTITUTION:A briquette coke carbonized at 900-1,000 deg.C by two-stage process in the low-temperature and the high-temperature zones A and B respectively of a shaft furnace (upright carbonization furnace) is cooled in the cooling zone C by a cooling gas fed from the intake 12, a heated gas is recovered through the exhaust port 13 of the gas recovering sensible heat. The coke is transferred from the pushing machine 14 to the exhaust tube 15, droped in the water bath 16, and taken out by the bucket conveyor 17. The sealing effect of the water bath 16 can seal the gases in the furnace with ease. Since the water content of the product coke depends on both the temperature of the cooling water and the immersion time in the water, operating conditions are preset according to a experiment previously carried out.
