    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube wherein vibration caused by external force or the like, doming, and generation of the second collision of an electron with a phosphor screen are securely cut down with a simple structure. SOLUTION: With applied tensile force in the direction of an arrow 'a', the shadow mask 13 is stretched and retained on the upper surface of a connecting member 11. The mask 13 has a plastic deformation area on the surface thereof, wherein a projection 16 is formed by plastic deformation and the cross sectional form thereof is inverted V shape is lateral direction. As a result of this, the rigidity of the mask is improved with simple construction, so that the shadow mask may become difficult to be bent, therefore the amplitude of the vibration caused by external force, etc., is cut down. Furthermore, the surface area of the shadow mask can be enlarged which enables heat radiation efficiency to increase, thermal expansion to decrease, and doming to be cut down. Additionally this enables to prevent generation of the second collision of an electron reflected by the phosphor screen with the phosphor screen.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the influence of the fluctuation of the sensitivity of a second vertical deflection electrode on the vertical position of a beam, and improve the evenness of image quality even if the fluctuation is generated in the sensitivity of the second vertical deflection electrode by using two vertical deflecting electrodes. CONSTITUTION:An electrode group 57 has electron beam passing holes 59 and slits 60 at positions respectively opposite to multiple linear cathodes 52, and the passing quantity of the electron beam from the linear cathodes 52 is controlled by a control electrode 54 in response to the image signal, and is deflected to the vertical direction at multiple stages by a vertical deflection electrode 56. An electrode group 64 has electron passing holes 65 and slits 66 at positions respectively opposite to each deflected beam position, and each deflected beam is deflected horizontally by a horizontal deflection electrode 62, and thereafter, the deflected beam is deflected furthermore to the vertical direction at multiple stages by a vertical deflection electrode 63. An image can be thereby displayed on a screen as a whole.

    • PURPOSE:To enable an image of high quality to be obtained by having wire cathodes come in contact with one or more insulating wires, and furthermore having these wires come in contact with plural metallic plates so that the oscillation of the wire cathodes is suspended. CONSTITUTION:Each wire cathode 30A through 30D is made to be in tension by means of a wire cathode spring 35 in order to be strength tight. And each wire cathode 30A through 30D is brought in contact with an insulating wire 31 in such a way that the wire is knitted together. In addition, the insulating wire 31 is brought in contact with an insulating wire restraining metallic plate 32 while being formed in a wave shape. In this case, when external force is applied, each wire cathode 30A through 30D starts oscillating at its characteristic frequency so that friction is caused between each wires cathode 30A through 30D and the insulating wire 31. And the insulating wire 31 also concurrently starts oscillating so that friction is caused halfway the distance to the insulating wire restraining metallic plate 32. As a result, the oscillating energy of each wire cathode 30A through 30D is converted into friction energy so that the oscillation of each wire cathode 30A through 30D is damped instantly so as to be suspended. By this constitution, an image of high quality can thereby be obtained stably.
