    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quality control method for keeping the quality of a planographic printing plate to be constant and for continuously forming a uniform image, by easily deciding the platemaking conditions of a negative planographic printing original plate for IR laser for direct platemaking, in particular, deciding the state of a developing solution and back feeding the result to exposure/development steps. SOLUTION: The quality control method for a planographic printing plate includes steps of: (A) exposing a planographic printing original plate having a photosensitive layer containing an IR absorbent, a compound generating a radical and a polymerizable compound on a supporting body, then developing the plate with a standard alkaline developing solution, and determining the activity of the standard alkaline developing solution from physical properties of the solution; (B) determining the activity of the objective alkaline developing solution to be evaluated under the same conditions, except for using the objective alkaline developing solution instead of the standard one; (C) comparing the activity of the standard alkaline developing solution with the activity of the objective alkaline developing solution; and (D) controlling the exposure/development conditions, according to the difference in the activity if the difference in the activity is equal to or larger than a specified value.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planographic printing original plate which permits the writing by means of infrared laser, is allowed to suppress the occurrence of both of image defects and image irregularities in development, can form a uniform and high quality picture over the whole surface of a plate and, in particular, has excellent plate wear resistance on a dot picture region, and to provide a platemaking method suitable for the planographic printing original plate capable for forming the high quality picture. SOLUTION: The planographic printing original plate has a photosensitive layer comprising a binder polymer with repeated units expressed by a general formula (I), an infrared ray absorber, a polymerization initiator and a polymerizable compound, and a protective layer on a substrate. In the general formula (I), R 1 represents hydrogen atom or methyl group and R 2 represents a binding group. (A) represents oxygen atom or -NR 3 -, R 3 represents hydrogen atom or monovalent hydrocarbon group of the number of carbon 1 to 10 and (n) represents an integer of 1 to 5. The planographic printing original plate is preferably exposed by using the light of wavelength 750nm to 1400nm and, thereafter, is subjected to development process on the conditions of conveyance speed of plate material ≥1.25m/min without substantial heating treatment.
