    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator with excellent ignitibility of an entire gas generating agent allowing easy gas flow, whereby timing of gas discharge is early, even when the gas generator has an elongated shape. SOLUTION: A cylindrical housing 10 is mounted with an igniter 16 and a diffuser portion 12 having a gas discharge port 15. A cylindrical member 30 is disposed and fixed in the cylindrical housing 10 to form a cylindrical gap 35 reaching the gas discharge port 15. An obstacle 60 is provided in the gap 35, and a first gas passage hole 37, a second gas passage hole 38 and a third gas passage hole 39 are formed therein. The gas generating agent 90 is ignited and burnt by activation of the igniter 16 to generate gas, part of the generated gas flows into the gap 35 through the first gas passage hole 37 (f 1 ), part of the gas that has passed therethrough flows again into the cylindrical member 30 through the second gas passage hole 38 (f 2 ) to aid the combustion of the gas generating agent 90, and then the gas flows into the gap through the third gas passage hole 39 (f 3 ) and finally is discharged from the gas discharge port 15.
