摘要： A process for increasing the yields of light olefins and the yields of aromatics from a hydrocarbon stream is presented. The process includes a first separation to direct the light components that are not reformable to a cracking unit, with the remainder passed to a second separation unit. The second separation unit extracts normal components from the hydrocarbon stream to pass to the cracking unit. The resulting hydrocarbon stream with reduced light ends and reduced normals is passed to a reforming unit.

摘要： Atomization of a high boiling point, hot liquid, such as a hydrocarbon feed oil for a fluid cat cracker, is enhanced by injecting subcooled water into the hot liquid, to form a two-phase fluid of the liquid and steam, upstream of the atomization. The hot liquid is at conditions of temperature and pressure effective for the injected, subcooled water to vaporize into steam, when the water contacts it. Typically this means that the hot liquid is hotter and at a lower pressure than the water. In an FCC process, the subcooled water is sparged into the flowing hot oil in a conduit (34) in a riser feed injector (10). This produces a spray of hot oil in the riser reaction zone (22) in which the oil drops are smaller and more uniformly distributed in the spray.

Operating the regenerator (14) at a temperature no higher than about 1150 °F. 摘要： A cyclone (500) suitable for use in a third stage separator in a fluid catalytic cracking unit or to improve other gas/solid separations. The cyclone has an inlet for gas and entrained solids (515) and a clean gas outlet tube (520) at one end of a cyclone body. Solids and some gas are withdrawn through a solids outlet (545) and discharged into a catch chamber. Some of the gas discharged with the solids into the catch chamber is returned to the interior of the cyclone body through a gas reflux opening in the cyclone (555). Chaotic reflux of gas back into the cyclone through the solids outlet is eliminated.

摘要： There is disclosed a catalytic reforming method in which hydrocarbons are treated in a reactor system to produce an aromatics enriched product, said reactor system comprising:

(a) a series of reactors (10,20,30), containing a catalyst bed comprising a sulfur sensitive zeolite reforming catalyst, and each being associated with

said method comprising passing hydrocarbons through said reactor system to contact the hydrocarbons with the reforming catalyst in said reactors and separating said aromatics enriched product from said effluent gas;
wherein:

(i) hydrocarbons are reformed in each of said reactors under low sulfur reforming conditions of less than 50ppb sulfur; and
(ii) at least the furnace tubes of the reactor system are protected from carburization and metal dusting.

Apparatus for carrying out the process is also described.

摘要： A process for producing zeolite aggregates involves providing a formable paste composed of zeolite, a binder composed of an organic/metal oxide containing aluminum, a peptizing agent and water; forming the paste into an aggregate, preferably by extruding into an extrudate; curing the aggregate; hydro-thermally calcining the aggregate; and washing the hydro-thermally calcined aggregate with a washing medium, preferably followed by rinsing with a rinsing medium to remove residual washing medium from the aggregate. The washed and rinsed aggregate may then be permitted to equilibrate or is subjected to a drying procedure. Preferably, the washed and rinsed aggregate is again subjected to curing/hydro-thermal calcining. The resultant aggregates, such as extrudates, have an exterior surface with openings and interstitial spaces between particles of binder and zeolite which communicate by such openings between the exterior surface of the aggregate and micropores of the zeolite; the aggregates also exhibit characteristics of crush strength greater than about 0.9 pounds per millimeter and a loss by attrition of less than about 3.0 %. Regenerable catalysts, such as reforming catalysts, based on such aggregate also exhibit a catalyst activity pass through to the zeolite bound in the aggregate of at least 70 % of the initial catalyst activity of freshly prepared zeolite, as well as exhibiting more than about 70 % of the reforming benzene yield that the reforming catalyst exhibited when similarly tested prior to being exposed to a hydrocarbon stream under specified reforming conditions of the catalyst activity test procedures.
