    • A wiper driving apparatus comprises: a driving gear (12) driven by an electric motor (31), for driving a wiper; a clutch member (15) so rotatably provided as to rotate to­gether with said driving gear (12) only in a driving direc­tion of said driving gear (12); a first and a second electrically-conductive plate (24,25) constituting a switch for opening and closing an electric circuit of said motor (31); and a first and a second moving-contact segment (16,17) which are rotated relative to said first and said second electrically-conductive plate (24,25) respectively while brought into a slidable contact therewith respectively. A driven engaging projection (19) of said clutch member (15) extends towards said driving gear (12), and is disposed in a position differing in phase from a contact position by an angle of at least 90 degrees, preferably by an angle of 180 degrees, in which contact position a contact point (21) of said second moving-contact segment (17) is brought into an electrical contact with said second electrically-­conductive plate (25).

    • Apparatuses and methods for removing ice from a windshield. A windshield wiper includes a wiper assembly, a scrubber assembly, and an engaging assembly. The wiper assembly includes a wiper support structure and a wiper blade attached to the wiper support structure. The scmbber assembly includes a scrubber support structure, an elongated scrubber element and a motor. The scrubber element is movably attached to the scrubber support structure and extends between a first end and a spaced apart second end along a central longitudinal axis. The scmbber element can have a hardness value sufficient to remove ice from the windshield. The motor is mounted to the scmbber support structure and is engaged with the scrubber element to move the scrubber element to remove ice. An engaging assembly can be coupled with the wiper assembly and the scmbber assembly to raise and lower the scrubber assembly with respect to the wiper assembly.

    • A wiper motor (11) which can prevent an impact force from greatly acting on attaching parts is provided. A gear cover (40) formed in a substantially inverted y-plate shape is fastened to an opening of a gear case (21) of the wiper motor (11) used in a rear wiper device so as to cover a worm reduction gear (22) and a crank device. A gravity center of a motor part and a gear part is disposed within an area of a triangle formed by a first attaching part (41), a second attaching part (42), and a third attaching part (43), which are formed at three end portions of the inverted y-plate shape of the gear cover (40). The first attaching part (41) is disposed on an extension line of the rotation axis (12), and the rotation axis (12) is disposed at a position where a segment connecting the second attaching part (42) and the third attaching part (43) is divided into half. A wiper shaft (31) is disposed on an opposite side to the third attaching part (43) with respect to a segment connecting the first attaching part (41) and the second attaching part (42).
