摘要： A nozzle system for continuous casting of an aluminum killed steel wherein 50 % or more of the total area of inner surfaces of all the nozzles for continuous casting being used for injecting a molten steel from a tundish to a mold is formed by a refractory containing CaO in an amount of 20 mass % or more. In the application of a material containing CaO to a nozzle for casting an aluminum killed steel, the amount of alumina inclusions of a large size formed in a cast piece has been found to correlate well with the total area of the inner surface of nozzles used and the CaO content of the refractory applied to the surface, and the above nozzle system allows the reduction of the amount of alumina inclusions of a large size contained in a cast piece, in any type (single type or dividable type) of nozzle.

摘要： A binding structure of a refractory sleeve with a body of a nozzle for continuous casting having a refractory sleeve containing 20 mass % or more of CaO attached on the inside of the body thereof for reducing the adhesion of alumina, wherein an adhesive material comprising a mixture of a refractory aggregate and a binder is applied to the outer face of the sleeve, a part or the whole of the surface of the inner wall of the hole in the nozzle body on which surface the refractory sleeve is to be attached, or a joint portion formed between the inserted refractory sleeve and the surface of the inner wall, and the porosity of the adhesive material after drying is adjusted so as to be 15 to 90 %. The binding structure allows the relaxation of thermal stress due to the rapid expansion resulting from the flow of molten steel into the inner hole during operation, which results in the prevention of the fallout of a sleeve and the adverse effect on the body of a nozzle due to the expansion thereof.

摘要： Disclosed is anti-alumina-buildup refractories for casting nozzles, which comprises a refractory aggregate including 20 mass% or more of CaO component, and 10 mass % or more of clinker particles each containing CaO as a mineral phase, on the basis of 100 mass % of the entire composition. At least a part of the surfaces of the CaO exposed from the surfaces of the corresponding clinker particles is formed with a CaCO3 film. The CaCO3 film releases CO2 gas through thermal decomposition to smooth an operative surface of the nozzle so as to prevent the accretion of metal thereon, so that CaO is continuously supplied to alumina attached on the operative surface to prevent alumina buildup. In addition, the CaCO3 film effectively prevents the hydration of CaO due to a hydration reaction.

摘要： An improved multilayer coating for use on molten metal holding and transfer apparatus, the coating including a bond layer applied directly to the surface of molten metal holding and transfer apparatus, and a porous layer of ceramic material produced by co-deposition of a powder of said ceramic material and a powder of a suitable organic polymer material and, after the co-deposition, heating of said polymer material to thermally decompose the polymer material and form the porous layer. The bond layer preferably is formed of a metallic, intermetallic or composite particulate materials. The metal component may be in the metallic, intermetallic, oxide, clad or alloyed form consisting of any one or more of the metal components selected from the group of Mo, Ni, Al, Cr, Co, Y and W and may be in combination with yttria, alumina, zirconia, boron, carbon and have a particle size in the range of 5 to 250 m, typically 40 to 125 m. The bond layer preferably has a thickness of 5 to 300 m with a substantially uniform coating layer being provided over the surfaces to have the porous ceramic coat applied.

摘要： A permeable, resin-bonded composition is described, which finds utility as a porous element in a gas-injection nozzle. The permeable composition is notably useful in a canless, resin-bonded, gas-injection nozzle, characterized by an impermeable, resin-bonded composition replaces the metal can. Advantageously, the resin-bonded compositions include an oxygen getter for scrubbing oxygen before the oxygen can reach the molten steel. A method of manufacturing the nozzle is described and includes copressing a standard, resin-bonded composition around the permeable, resin-bonded composition. The pressed piece may be cured at temperatures below about 800 °C.
