摘要： The invention relates to a multi-way-adjusting device, in particular to a two-way device for a seating component, mainly for adjusting the width of a seatback. The inventive multi-way adjusting device comprises an adjusting element (7) which is movable with respect to a fixing element (1) and requires less energy for adjusting in a first direction (a) than in a second direction (B). In order to compensate said difference, mechanical energy storage elements (5) absorb mechanical energy during adjusting in the first direction (A) and release said energy during adjusting in the second direction (B), thereby facilitating the displacement of the adjusting element (7) in the second direction (B). Said invention also relates to a corresponding adjusting device for a cable control, in particular to a Bowden cable which is used for adjusting the height or the curve of the lordosis support of the seat.

An intermediate supporting member 9 is fitted to an upper end of the leg column 1, the seat 3 and a back frame 5 are fitted to the intermediate supporting member 9, and the back support 4 is fitted to an upper end of the back frame 5 via a joint unit 11. The seat 3 has an elongated shape when viewed from the top, and is fitted to the intermediate supporting member 9 to swivel horizontally.

A nut 22 is threaded to the screw 24 for relative axial displacement of the screw and nut, for example, to adjust the height of a chair seat or similar fixture. A resilient brake structure 38,46 is carried by either the nut or the screw for resiliently biased, alternative locking and unlocking of the nut and screw in order selectively to prevent and allow relative rotation and relative axial displacement of the screw and nut. The lock allows the screw 24 and nut 22 to co-rotate without relative axial displacement so that the chair seat can be swivelled without altering the desired height. The assembly can be designed with the parameters correlated so that the chair seat can be lowered at uniform speed independently of the weight of the seat occupant.
