    • Disclosed in the present invention is are a method and apparatus for implementing chip correlation for multi-path search. The method comprises: writing chip data into a memory array according to the receiving time order of the chip data; reading the chip data, which correlation operation is needed to be carried out on within a current clock period, from the memory array according to a demand of the search; and grouping the chip data which is read out by predetermined grouping manner, and carrying out the correlation operation for each chip group in multiple chip groups and a pseudo-noise (PN) code sequence, wherein the multiple chip groups are obtained by the grouping; the chip data of each chip group in the multiple chip groups are multiple chip data which are received consecutively, the number of the chip data in each chip group is equal to each other, and the second chip data of each chip group is the first chip data in the next chip group according to the receiving time order of the chip data. By way of the present invention, correlation operation with high correlation order can be completed using a small amount of memories, thus memory resources are effectively saved, the costs and hardware complexity are reduced; and the flexibility of correlation operation can be improved; in addition, the purpose of seamless handover can be achieved.

    • An object of the present invention is to provide a rake receiver and a receiving method for efficiently assigning paths to fingers in a CDMA mobile communication system. In the present invention, a correlation-value calculation section 2 calculates correlation values between spreading codes and reception signals input from an input terminal 1, at all timings at which rake reception is possible, and outputs the calculated correlation values to a delayed-profile creation section 3 and a difference-history creation section 6. The delayed-profile creation section 3 determines average correlation values and issues the values as a delayed profile to a path selection section 4. For each reception timing, the difference-history creation section 6 compares the latest correlation value issued from the correlation-value calculation section 2 with a previous correlation value held by the difference-history creation section 6, to determine a difference history, and issues the difference history to the path selection section 4. The path selection section 4 rearranges the delayed profile in decreasing order the average correlation values. When the delayed profile and the difference history satisfy all predetermined conditions, the path selection section 4 assigns the corresponding reception timing to a finger and issues the reception timing to the finger section 5.

    • An apparatus for decoding a spread spectrum signal coded with a pseudonoise code. A count control (30) is coupled to a clock generator (31) which is connected to a code generator (32) and reference registers (33). The code generator (32) is also connected to the reference registers (33). The count control (30) controls the length of the pseudonoise signal chosen by code selector (34) to be detected by the receiver, and sends signals to the code clock generator (31) to cause code generator (32) to output a code of length L to reference registers (33). Count control (30) triggers code clock generator (31), triggering code generator (32) and reference registers (33). The code selection circuit (34) outputs to the code generator (32). A single code may be loaded into the reference registers (33), or the reference registers (33) can be periodically loaded with different codes until a match occurs.
