    • In a plasma display panel, a discharge space is formed by arranging a front substrate (2) and a rear substrate to face each other and sealing the circumference. In the front substrate, a display electrode (6), a dielectric layer (8) and a protection layer (9) are formed on a front glass substrate (3), and in the rear substrate, an electrode, barrier ribs and a phosphor layer are formed on a substrate. The display electrode (6) contains at least silver, and the dielectric layer (8) is composed of a first dielectric layer (81) which covers the display electrode (6) and contains bismuth oxide, and a second dielectric layer (82) which covers the first dielectric layer (81) and contains bismuth oxide. The quantity of the bismuth oxide contained in the second dielectric layer (82) is less than that of the bismuth oxide contained in the first dielectric layer (81).

    • A plasma display having an improved emission efficiency. A plasma display comprises a pair of front and back substrates so opposed as to form discharge spaces defined by partitions between the substrates, display electrodes so arrayed on the front substrate on the panel side as to form discharge cells between partitions and composed of scanning electrodes and sustaining electrodes, a dielectric layer so formed on the front substrate as to cover the display electrodes, and a phosphor layer capable of emitting light thanks to the discharge between the display electrodes. The discharge spaces are filled with a mixed gas containing Xe as a discharge gas, and the proportion of the partial pressure of the Xe is 5 to 30%. Recesses are formed in the surface of the dielectric layer on the discharge space side for the respective discharge cells.

    • In an AC type plasma display panel in which a discharge electrode and an dielectric material layer are formed on its substrate on the display surface, it has a structure in which a thin color filter layer containing fine inorganic pigment particles as its main component is formed in contact with or within the dielectric material layer. The color filter layer containing the fine pigment particles as its main component can have good performance by arranging that the color filter layer has a thickness of 0.5 through 5 microns, and the fine pigment particles have average particle size of 0.01-0.15 microns. The firing and forming process for the dielectric material layer coating the fine pigment particle layer is performed in at least two layers, the firing temperature for the dielectric material layer directly coating the fine pigment particle layer from the above being higher than the firing temperature for at least one of other dielectric material layer, whereby a color plasma display panel can be attained, the color plasma display panel having good performance and a finely patterned color filter.
