摘要： An apparatus for calcining gypsum including a housing having a bottom wall, opentop, and a plurality of side walls extending therebetween. A fixture is located adjacent the open top for receiving gypsum from a source and transferring the gypsum into the housing. At least one burner is connected to the housing and operable for combusting an air-fuel mixture to heat the gypsum. At least one serpentine burner conduit extends from the burner through the housing and terminates through a support floor of the apparatus. The exhaust flow is then directed through a fluidization pad and into the gypsum to further heat the gypsum product. An agitation mechanism is operable to mix the gypsum adjacent the fluidization pad to prevent pockets of gypsum from coagulating and preventing fluidization of the gypsum.

摘要： A baffle-style stripper (14', 132) for an FCC process having a complete or nearly complete coverage of stripping openings (53, 55, 75, 59, 61, 63, 140, 141) over the sloped surface of the baffle will provide improved stripping efficiency and catalyst flux through the stripper. The complete distribution of relatively small openings over the entire surface of a sloped baffle (41, 45, 135, 137) has been found to interrupt relatively dense streamers of catalyst that were previously not known to exist and which short-circuited the contact of the stripping fluid with the catalyst. Spreading out the stripping gas across the sloped area of the baffle to a much greater extent than has been practiced in the past has now been found to promote active contacting of the catalyst with the stripping fluid over the entire volume of the stripper between the baffles. As an added benefit, more complete coverage by the stripper openings also prevents choking of stripper flow by the restriction of stripping gas flow to narrow open areas between the sloped baffles. By this discovery, previous limits for typical baffle-type stripper throughput may be increased by as much as 50 %.

A modified high-efficiency catalyst regenerator (80), with a fast fluidized bed coke combustor (62), dilute phase transport riser (83), and second fluidized bed (82) regenerates the catalyst in at least two stages. The primary stage of regeneration is in the coke combustor (62). Second stage catalyst regeneration occurs in the second fluidized bed (82). The amount of combustion air added to both regeneration stages is set to maintain partial CO combustion in both stages. Controlled multi-stage regeneration reduces the steaming or deactivation of catalyst during regeneration, maximizes coke burning capacity of the regenerator (80), and minimizes or eliminates NOx emissions.

The primary stage of regeneration is in the coke combustor (62), at full CO oxidation conditions. The second stage of catalyst regeneration occurs in the second fluidized bed (82), at partial CO combustion conditions. The process permits regeneration of spent FCC catalyst while minimizing NOx emissions and achieving significant reduction of SOx.

摘要： A fluidized bed reactor (12) in which a heat exchanger (36) is located adjacent the reactor with each enclosing a fluidized bed and sharing a common wall including a plurality of water tubes. A mixture of flue gases and entrained particulate materials from the fluidized bed in the reactor are separated in the cyclone (28) and the separated particulate material is passed to the fluidized bed in the heat exchanger (36). Coolant is passed in a heat exchange relation with the separated materials in the heat exchanger (36) to remove heat from the materials after which they are passed via (44) to the fluidized bed in the reactor (12). Auxiliary fuel is supplied to the heat exchanger (36) for combustion to control the temperature of the coolant. When the system of the present invention is utilized to generate steam the coolant can be controlled to match the requirements of a steam turbine.
