    • The invention concerns a method of processing basic oxygen furnace slag comprising the steps of: a) cooling basic oxygen furnace slag from an initial temperature T
      i of between 1500 and 1600°C to a bearing temperature Tp of between 1200 and 1400°C, it being understood that: - the average speed of cooling from initial temperature Ti to bearing temperature Tp is less than or equal to 10°C per minute, and - the maximum speed of cooling from initial temperature Ti to bearing temperature Tp is less than 20°C per minute, then b) optionally keeping the basic oxygen furnace slag at bearing temperature Tp for 1 to 48 hours, then c) cooling the basic oxygen furnace slag from bearing temperature Tp to a final temperature Tf less than 1200°C, whereby lime silicate phases having an average size greater than 30 μm and lime ferrite phases form, d) crushing the basic oxygen furnace slag obtained after cooling, e) separating the lime silicate phases and the lime ferrite phases.
