    • @ An improved lens grinding apparatus of the type including a grinding wheel (5), a wheel shaft (2) for mounting the grinding wheel (1) and two lens shafts (6) adapted to rotatably clamp lens blank (5) therebetween. The apparatus further includes a writing device (30) for scribing a band of magnetized zone (31) on the magnetic sheet (13) by means of a writing magnet (26) on the free end of the first arm (23), a reading device (48) for reading the contour line (32) of the magnetized zone (31) by means of hole elements (44,45) on the second arm (41) and a center distance changing device (47) for changing the center distance between the wheel shaft (2) and the lens shafts (6) in response to changing of the configuration of the contour line (32). These devices (30, 48, 47) are operatively associated with one another and operations of each of them are controlled by a control system. The magnetic sheet (13) is first magnetized to first polarity by the demagnetizing magnet (28) of the third arm and the magnetized zone (31) is then magnetized to a second polarity by a writing magnet (26) on the first arm (23) which is located in alignment with the follower roller (25) adapted to contact with the V-shaped groove (12) of a lens frame (11). The center distance changing device (47) includes a moving block which is operatively connected to the lens shafts (6).

    • Apparatus for shaping optical lenses, constituted by an articulated frames (1) and a movable frame (9) pivotally connected to said articulated frame (1). Two axial pins (11, 20) which operate coaxially are provided at the lower end of the movable frame. A rubber tab (14) and a suction cup element (19) act at the inner end of said pins and bear against the outer surfaces of a lens for locking it. An appropriate template (26) retained between an actuating means (24) and a sleeve (25) rotates with the outer edge against a rotatable pin (29) connected to a movable arm (30) to produce an oscillation of the movable frame (9) so as to permit a continuous and constant contact of the peripheral edge of the lens with the peripheral edge of the grinding wheel (28) and generate a lens equal or proportional to the profile of the template used.

    • A lens and pattern holder (1) for use with a grinding tool (3) comprising a rotary grinding ring (5) mounted in coaxial relationship with respect to a guiding ring (7) of the same diameter characterised in that the holder comprises:-
      a) a solid body (31) having a pair of opposite surfaces (33, 35) spaced apart so that the peripheries thereof can be disposed respectively within the axial lengths of the grinding ring (5) and guiding ring (7); b) means on a first one (33) of the opposite surfaces of the body (31) for detachably connecting thereto a pattern (27) having a periphery outward from the periphery of the first surface, these connecting means consisting of two pins (30) spaced apart on the first surface and projecting therefrom for engagement with a pair of corresponding holes (41) provided in the pattern; c) means (47) on the other or second surface (35) of the body (31) for detachably mounting thereon a lens (29); and d) visual means on this second surface (35) for use as a guide to properly position and align the lens (29) with respect to the pattern (27) connected to the first surface (33) of the body (31) when mounting this lens on the second surface; whereby a finished lens (29) brought into edge contact with the guiding ring (7) serves as a guide for finishing the periphery of a pattern (27) pressed against the guiding ring (5) as the lens and pattern are rotated with the holder (1).
