摘要： A universal binding apparatus (10) for detachably securing footwear (16) to an article is disclosed . The apparatus includes a base plate (14) and a foot plate (18). The base plate (14) attaches to the article while the foot plate (18) attaches to the footwear (16). The base plate (14) includes a toe latch (20), a heel latch (22), and a first release (24). The toe latch (20) is disposed at a front portion of the base plate (14) while the heal latch (22) is disposed at a rear portion of the base plate (14) such that the first release (24) is also disposed between the toe latch (20) and the heel latch (22). The first release (24) enables either the toe latch (20) or the heel latch (22) to be disengaged from the foot plate (18). The foot plate (18) includes a toe support (28) and a heel support (30). The toe support (28) is disposed at a front portion of the shoe plate (18) similar to the front portion of the base plate (14) and while the heel support (30) is disposed at a rear portion of the shoe plate (18). The shoe plate (18) removably attaches to the base plate (14) with the toe support (28) engaged with the toe latch (20) and the heel support (30) engaged with the heel latch (22). The first release (24) operates to disengage either the toe latch (20) or the heel latch (22) or both from the foot plate (18).

摘要： A boot binding apparatus for a snowboard where the snowboard boot includes a front hook member (30) and a rear hook member (42) which are imbedded within the sole of the snowboard boot. The snowboard boot is flexible in order to bend in the same manner as a conventional soft boot. The boot binding apparatus includes a front latching mechanism (66) and a rear latching mechanism (96). The front latching mechanism includes a latching hook member (82) facing towards a toe edge of the snowboard. The rear latching mechanism is continuously biased toward a latching position but can be moved to an unlatching position. The latching hook member may also be movable and continuously biased in a direction toward the toe edge of the snowboard. With the snowboard boot engaging with the boot binding system, the sole of the snowboard boot is in direct flush contact with the upper surface of the boot binding apparatus and being totally enclosed and protected from contamination by snow debris while engaged.

摘要： A snowboard boot and binding system is disclosed which facilitates the engagement and disengagement of a snowboard boot and binding. The snowboard boot may include a boot engagement member extending from a rear of the boot. The boot engagement member is moved downwardly into a corresponding binding engagement member to provide an arrangement which prevents forward movement of the boot. The boot engagement member also may include one or more serrations to engage with one or more pawls on the binding to prevent upward movement of the boot. A snap-in arrangement may be provided in a boot toe region. The boot has protrusions extending outwardly from each side of the boot to engage with catches on the binding sidewalls. As the boot is pressed downwardly into the binding, the protrusions splay the catches until reaching recesses, at which point the catches rebound to capture the protrusions against upward movement.

摘要： A boot (20) is disclosed for use with a snowboard (22) having binding means for attachment to the boot. The boot includes a base (24), a highback (26), and an upper (28). The base includes a binding receiving plate (58) for attaching the boot to the binding means (64, 66) on the snowboard. The base also has toe and heel ends. The base (24) is formed with a toecap (30) at the toe end and a heel counter (32) at the heel end. Treat (34) projects from the bottom of the base for traction when the boot is not attached to the snowboard. The highback (26) extends upwardly from the heel counter (32) of the base. The high back provides aft support to the user. The upper (28) is fixedly attached to the base and is arranged and configured to receive the foot and ankle of the user. The upper has a rearward side adjacent the highback. The upper is more flexible than the base and the highback. A base strap (72) is connected to opposing sides of the base and extends across a portion of the upper.
