    • An electrode system (101) configured to be used with a monitoring system (102) configured to assess a level of neuromuscular blockade in a subject, comprising a flexible substrate (10), wherein the flexible substrate (10) includes a first portion (16) on which one or more stimulating electrodes (30) are carried and a second portion (18) on which one or more recording electrodes (40) are carried, wherein the second portion (18) comprises an elongated portion extending distally from the first portion (16); a connector interface (20) carried on the flexible substrate (10) and configured to communicatively connect the electrode system (101) with the monitoring system (102); one or more stimulating electrodes (30) carried on the flexible substrate (10) and configured to deliver an electrical pulse to the subject; one or more recording electrodes (40) carried on the flexible substrate (10) and configured to receive an electrical signal to detect electrical activity of at least one of a muscle response or a nerve response to the delivered electrical pulse; wherein each of the one or more recording electrodes (40) is moveable relative to the other one or more recording electrodes (40) and the one or more stimulating electrodes (30) due to the flexibility of the flexible substrate; and a plurality of conductive traces (50) carried on the flexible substrate (10), the conductive traces (50) electrically connecting at least one stimulating electrode (30) or at least one recording electrode (40) with the connector interface, wherein each of the one or more stimulating electrodes has an elongate shape and a length dimension (30A) that is substantially greater than a width dimension (30B), wherein the electrode system does not include a common ground electrode.

    • There is provided a biological electrode capable of suppressing bending in the direction opposite to (inward) the direction in which a distal end side portion of an electrode portion that comes into contact with a body of a subject extends. The biological electrode 1 includes an electrode member 20 made of a conductive rubber having a plurality of electrode portions 22 in contact with a body of a subject. The plurality of electrode portions 22 are protrusively formed on an electrode portion forming surface 21b of the electrode member 20 and arranged circularly or concentrically on the electrode portion forming surface 21b. Further, each of the plurality of electrode portions 22 is formed so that a cross-sectional area thereof gradually decreases from a proximal end portion thereof toward a distal end portion thereof and a center C2 of a cross section of the distal end portion is positioned radially outward of a center C1 of a cross section of the proximal end portion as viewed from an arrangement center of the plurality of electrode portions 22.
