    • The invention relates to a cutting system for machines for machining rectilinearly and continuously moving plate-shaped workpieces, for the purpose of severing the front and/or rear projecting edges. The inventive cutting system comprises a saw unit provided with a motor-driven saw blade, which is mounted so as to be displaceable between a position above the workpiece and a position below the workpiece. The cutting system additionally comprises a feeler associated with the saw blade and having at least one feeler surface. Said feeler surface can be placed on the front or rear transversal face of the workpiece and the cutting plane of the saw blade can be aligned therewith. The aim of the invention is to improve the cutting system in such a manner as to facilitate the alignment of the saw blade in relation to the feeler surface. To this end, the saw blade is held in a pivoting manner between a first working position which is aligned with the feeler surface, and a second working position which is oriented in an inclined manner in relation to the feeler surface.
