The fibers forming the inner layer has a cross section providing greater stiffness, while the fibers forming the outer layers have a cross section providing greater durability. The resulting fabrics provide improved particulate holding and pressure drop characteristics at no sacrifice to durability.

摘要： The present invention relates to an acoustical insulation material containing a first layer formed from a nonwoven web having a density of at least 50 kg/m3 wherein the nonwoven web is formed from thermoplastic [meltblown] fibers having an average fiber diameter of less than about 7 microns; and a second layer of a high loft material. The high loft material of the present invention provides bulk to the first layer and may or may not have sound attenuating properties. Examples of the high loft material include, for example, fiberglass and high loft nonwoven webs. Also disclosed in a method of attenuating sound waves passing from a sound source area to a second area. The method includes positioning an acoustical insulation material containing a first layer formed from a nonwoven web having a density of at least 50 kg/m3 wherein the nonwoven web is formed from thermoplastic [meltblown] fibers having an average fiber diameter of less than about 7 microns; and a second layer of a high loft material, between the sound source area and the second area.

摘要： The suede-finished leather-like sheet of the present invention comprises a fiber-entangled nonwoven fabric comprising a layer (I) made of a microfine fiber (A) having an average fineness of 0.5 dtex or less and a layer (II) made of a microfine fiber (B) having an average fineness equal to or less than that of the microfine fiber (A), and a polymeric elastomer impregnated in the fiber-entangled nonwoven fabric. The layers (I) and (II) are integrated by entanglement such that a ratio of the microfine fiber (A) to the microfine fiber (B) is 10/90 to 90/10 by mass. The surface of the layer (I) is a napped surface made mainly of a raised microfine fiber (A). The microfine fibers (A) and (B) are respectively formed by converting a microfine fiber-forming fiber (a) and a microfine fiber-forming fiber (b), each having an elongation at break and a tenacity of specific ranges, into microfine fibers. The suede-finished leather-like sheet simultaneously exhibits a soft feel like natural leathers and good mechanical properties, especially good shape stability and tear strength.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for forming a nonwoven fiber web containing a pore size gradient resulting in enhanced wicking properties. A first method utilizes a conventionally formed web having an average pore size and comprises selectively contacting the web with a heat source to shrink the fibers in selected areas. The smaller pore sizes have greater wicking ability. A second method utilizes a novel apparatus and comprises forming a nonwoven fiber web having zones of fibers, each zone having generally an average set of fiber structure and/or composition, the zones preferably overlapping. The zones of fibers are exposed to a heat source, which shrinks the fibers according to their denier and composition. The apparatus uses a conventional meltblown or spunbond system and provides a plurality of resin sources which feed resin to a plurality of meltblowing dies. Each die produces fibers of a particular denier and/or composition which forms zones in a web collected on a collecting belt. The web moves underneath a manifold which blows heated air or sprays boiling water onto the fibers. The fibers shrink according to their structure and composition to form a web having a pore gradient.

摘要： There is provided pressure-sensitive adhesive coated breathable nonwoven tape backing substrate where the nonwoven tape backing comprises a fibrous nonwoven web formed in part by multicomponent fibers having an adhesive component region. The multicomponent fibers are distributed throughout the width dimension of the nonwoven tape backing such that adhesive component region is exposed on both outer faces of the nonwoven tape backing. The adhesive component region is preferably a pressure-sensitive adhesive region formed by hot melt coextrusion of at least two components to form the multicomponent fibers. A pressure-sensitive adhesive tape layer is coated onto at least one face of the nonwoven tape backing which pressure-sensitive adhesive tape layer is preferably of the same type of adhesive as that forming the adhesive region of the multicomponent fiber or is at least compatible with the adhesive region of the multicomponent fiber such that the adhesive has enhanced adhesive properties to the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape layer.
