    • A technique for inter-platform communication between functional components 120, 130 located on different network access platforms 106, 112 will be described. A method aspect of this technique comprises the step of providing a first network access platform 112 comprising a first functional component 124 adapted to provide and/or request a platform-based function to and/or from a second functional component 130 located on a second network access platform. On the first network access platform 112 an inter-platform communication application 122 is installed that is adapted to control signalling between the first functional component 120 and the second functional component 130. The inter-platform communication application 122 is enabled to contact a first middleware function 126 provided for accessing the second functional component 130. Then, a communication path 134 is established between the first functional component 120 and the second functional component 130 via the inter-platform communication application 122 and the first middleware function 126.
