    • The invention relates to a method for providing data to a data disclosing device.
      According to the invention, the data disclosing device includes means for disclosing data and at least one first memory for storing data to be disclosed, the first memory having a first size, an apparatus being coupled to the data disclosing device, the apparatus comprising at least one second memory for storing data to be disclosed, the method comprises the following steps:
      - the apparatus presents a description of a set of at least two data files, the file set description comprising a second size, the second size being greater than the first size, each of the at least two data files comprising at least one data block;
      - the apparatus sends to the data disclosing device data relating to a first file and at least one data block relating to at least one second data file; and
      - the apparatus sends, over a radiofrequency link, to a first remote server (16) a request (28) for sending at least one data file and/or at least one address of at least one third memory storing at least one data file.
      The invention also relates to corresponding apparatus and system.

    • A printer apparatus and method for processing image data includes a document input subsystem (DIS) (12) and a marking engine subsystem (MES) (16) for recording information on an image recording member. An image storage subsystem (ISS) (14) buffers image data for output to the MES. The ISS includes an input for receiving rasterized image data from the DIS and a data compressor (20,54) that operates on the rasterized image data to compress the rasterized image data to form compressed image data. A disk storage module (24) is operable to receive, store and output the compressed image data. A semiconductor RAM memory device (22,60) stores at least one page of the compressed image data. A data decompressor (30,54) operates on the compressed image data output by the RAM memory device and decompresses the compressed image data to decompressed rasterized image data form for output to the MES. A controller (40) determines if the disk storage module is ready to operate in a write mode to receive compressed image data currently being stored in the RAM memory device and determines if the disk storage module is ready to operate in a read mode to output compressed image data from the disk storage module for transfer to the RAM memory device and, if the disk storage module is ready to operate in both modes, the controller is operative to provide a preference for operation of the read mode and controls the disk storage module so that compressed image data is output from the disk storage module and written into the RAM memory device.
