摘要： In an image processing system, a server stores first image information in a compressed manner therein and sends second image information that represents the same element as that of the first image information with information content smaller than that of the first image information to client systems. Then, the server acquires the result of operation conducted on the second image information and edits the first image information in accordance with the operating result. After edition, the server transmits the compressed first image information to the client systems. The client systems print the first image information which has been edited to a printer.

摘要： This invention provides a video conversation/monitoring system that has a remote monitoring function and remote peripheral device control function in addition to a video-phonic conversation function, and is suitable for various user-intended guidance services. The system consists of a center station (2) and multiple end stations (3, 4) linked through the ISDN network (1). The center station includes a video conversation/monitoring means (5), video input means (7), video output means (6), audio input means (30), audio output means (28), system controller (9), facsimile (8) and ISDN line terminating unit (14), and each end station includes a video conversation/monitoring means (10), system controller (16), first video input means (12), second video input means (15), audio input means (321), audio output means (322), calling means (29), first notification means (110), second notification means (109), detection means (108), facsimile (13) and ISDN line terminating unit (14). Based on the remote monitoring function of the video input means and the remote control function of the system controller for switching the video input means, various guidance services are accomplished in addition to the video-phonic conversation service. The integrated unit enables easy desk-top installation, the application of the ISDN network reduces the communication cost, and the provision of various state detection means in the end stations enables the image-based monitoring and state monitoring in addition to the conversation.

In addition, a facsimile bridge is employed to distribute facsimile data associated with the teleconference. In an illustrative embodiment, the attendees provide, through the communication connections, their facsimile numbers which may be used by the facsimile bridge to distribute the facsimile data to those attendees. Alternatively, through the communication connections, the voice bridge provides the attendees with an access number for retrieving the facsimile data from the facsimile bridge.

A preferred embodiment of the present invention is comprised of the facsimile device (3) which is capable of being connected to a facsimile transceiver (1) and a computer (2). The facsimile device (3) allows the computer (2) to print data on the facsimile transceiver (1) using the facsimile device (3). Similarly, a document scanned on the facsimile transceiver (1) can be communicated to the computer (2) by the facsimile device (3).
