摘要： Disclosed, in general, are devices that provide a substantially sound-tight chamber over a sound source while absorbing fields of sounds from the sound source. In general, the devices feature: an anechoic chamber that is configured to receive a sound source in a substantially sound-tight manner; and an anechoic channel that is in fluid communication with the ambient atmosphere. The anechoic chamber is adapted to capture air containing sound energy generated by the sound source, and distribute the air about an internal surface area on the inside of the chamber, wherein the internal surface area is sufficiently large to dampen or otherwise absorb the sound energy. Preferably, the air is directed from the anechoic chamber through an anechoic channel extending therefrom to the ambient to further dampen or absorb the sound energy. In one configuration, the outer wall of the apparatus is configured to reflect ambient sounds.

摘要： A communications earpiece comprises an ear canal tube sized for positioning in an ear canal of a user so that the ear canal is at least partially open for directly receiving ambient sounds. A microphone port in the ear canal tube is located in the ear canal for detecting sounds in the ear canal. A speaker port in the ear canal tube is located in the ear canal in close proximity to the microphone port for broadcasting sound signals into the ear canal. A sound processor amplifies the ambient sounds received by the microphone to produce processed analog signals. The sound processor also comprises noise cancellation means for producing an inverse noise signal of noise detected in the ear canal by the microphone. The inverse noise signal is sent to the speaker port so as to be broadcast into the ear canal thereby substantially canceling the ambient noise in the ear canal.

The microphone (12) has two ports on opposite faces (one of which, A, is seen in Figure 1) and is mounted on the body (10) by hinge arms (14) to be displaceable, in use, between open and closed positions. 摘要： A method of audio signal processing for loudspeaker (1) located close to an ear (2), the method consisting of or including creating a reverberant signal from an original monophonic signal, modifying the spectral characteristics of the original signal using a first pinna transfer function, modifying the spectral characteristics of the reverberant signal using a further pinna transfer function, combining the modified reverberant signal and the modified original signal to form a combined signal, and feeding the combined signal to said loudspeaker, thereby providing cues for enabling the listener to perceive the source of the sound of the original audio signal to be located remote from said ear. The method is particularly advantageous for use in communications apparatus such as telephones or radio transceivers.
