摘要： The invention is a method for authenticating a user of a payment instrument (10) during a proximity payment transaction between the instrument and a terminal (20). During the payment transaction, an entity consisting of the payment instrument and the terminal performs a selection procedure leading to a selection of an out-of-band method for authenticating the user. Responsive to the method selection, the terminal sends to an authentication system (30) an authentication request for user authentication through the out-of-band method. Upon receipt of the authentication request, the authentication system attempts to authenticate the user by exchanging data with a mobile apparatus (40) of the user. The authentication system generates an authentication code (31) reflecting a result of the user authentication attempt and sends the authentication code to the terminal that uses the authentication code for requesting either a payment authorization or a payment initiation to complete the payment transaction.

摘要： The present disclosure is directed to a meter reading device for reading a utility meter. The meter reading device comprises a first communication interface for wireless communication with a utility meter, a second communication interface for wireless communication with a mobile phone, a microcontroller for controlling the communication interfaces and for processing data packets and a key extraction module. The meter reading device receives from the utility meter via the first communication interface, a data packet comprising a payload being encrypted by use of a data encryption key. From the mobile phone is via the second communication interface an access code comprising the data encryption key embedded in the access code received and the data encryption key is extracted from the access code by inputting the access code into the key extraction module. The received payload is decrypted using the data encryption key extracted from the access code. Further, an encrypted connection to the mobile phone is established via the second communication interface and the decrypted payload is send to the mobile phone via the encrypted connection and the received data packet including the encrypted payload is send to the mobile phone via the second communication interface.

摘要： A device receives an instruction to authorize a relationship corresponding to communication over a first data connection with a peripheral display unit, and receives authentication data from the peripheral display unit over another data connection. The device then establishes a connection with the peripheral display unit over the first data connection, including providing the authentication information to the peripheral display unit. The device monitors a battery charge level and battery-usage patterns and provides alerts in accordance therewith. The device displays a reconfiguration interface for configuring the user interfaces of one or more peripheral display units, and detects a request to configure an interface of a peripheral. In response to detecting the request, the device displays an updated representation of the peripheral interface, and afterwards transmits instructions to the peripheral to display the user interface in accordance with the request.
