    • A distribution point for a telecommunication and/or data network, particularly a DSL-type hybrid network, is described with an optical part (21) having an optical port (131) for connecting to the network through an optical connection and a wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) and a plurality of electro-optical modules (22), with each module connected at an optical signal port to a different optical channel of the WDM and an electrical signal port to a wired signal connection to a customer premises equipment (CPE) and comprising an optical receiver (Rx) and an optical transmitter (Tx) and an electrical power supply unit powered by electrical power transmitted from the CPE through the wired signal connection, such that the distribution point can be operated independent of the number of connected modules and without dedicated electrical power connections.

    • A supervisory channel is provided on an optical path (31) between nodes of an optical communication network. The nodes are arranged to use a set of wavelengths allocated for carrying traffic channels. An optical signal (16) which carries a supervisory channel is generated at a supervisory channel transmitter (15) and added (12) to the optical path (31) downstream of an optical amplifier (11). The optical signal (16) has a wavelength which is one of the set of wavelengths allocated for carrying traffic. The method is performed at a time when the wavelength is not being used to carry traffic. An impairment parameter of the received optical signal is measured at a supervisory channel receiver (15). The receiver is a coherent receiver and the impairment parameter is chromatic dispersion or polarization mode dispersion.

    • This application provides a wavelength negotiation method of a multi-wavelength passive optical network, including: receiving a wavelength status table that is broadcast by an OLT over each downstream wavelength channel of a multi-wavelength PON system, where the wavelength status table is used to indicate information about available wavelengths of the multi-wavelength PON system and statistic information of registered ONUs of a corresponding wavelength channel; selecting an upstream transmit wavelength and a downstream receive wavelength according to the wavelength status table; and reporting information about the upstream transmit wavelength and information about the downstream receive wavelength to the OLT so that the OLT refreshes the wavelength status table. This application also provides a wavelength negotiation apparatus of the multi-wavelength passive optical network and a multi-wavelength passive optical network system.
