摘要： To provide a semiconductor chip capable of making a reflection circuit, a branching circuit, a matching circuit, and the like that are connected to a chip end function in an adequate manner. A semiconductor chip is arranged on a semiconductor substrate on which at least one semiconductor device 11 is formed and includes a wiring pattern 12, 14 connected to each terminal of the semiconductor device 11 and an electrode pad 13, 15 connected to the wiring pattern 12, 14 for connecting a signal input/output circuit that is formed on a separate substrate provided separately from the semiconductor substrate. The semiconductor chip includes a parallel wiring pattern 16, 18 connected to the wiring pattern 12, 14 on at least one terminal end of the semiconductor device; and a reactance-circuit connection electrode pad 17, 19 connected to the parallel wiring pattern 16, 18 for electrically connecting a reactance circuit that is formed on the separate substrate separately from the signal input/output circuit.

摘要： Frequency converters include waveguides configured for a local oscillator (LO) signal, an intermediate frequency (IF) signal, and an RF signal. A multimode IF waveguide can be used for selectively coupling of an IF signal and to reduce signal contributions produced by the LO signal. Typically, the multimode waveguide is situated to that the IF signal and the LO signal propagate in different waveguide modes, and a selected one of these signals can be selectively attenuated. In some examples, a periodically stepped waveguide is used to enhance propagation of a selected waveguide mode or a lossy conductor is used to attenuate a selected waveguide mode.

摘要： A thick film construct and quadrature coupler for use in fabricating devices such as IQ modulators, IQ demodulators, vector modulators, image reject mixers, and multi-channel mixers. The thick film construct includes a dielectric substrate base with a metallized backside, a first metal trace deposited on the non-metallized side of the substrate base, a dielectric layer deposited over and around the first metal trace, and a second metal trace deposited on the dielectric layer. The first and second metal traces are aligned over their widths and lengths so to form a balanced transmission line structure where the first and second metal traces represent top and bottom lines in the balanced structure. This thick film structure serves as the foundation for microwave capacitors, mixers, and other transmission line based structures, including a quadrature coupler. The quadrature coupler which, in turn forms the basis for more complex devices, includes an input port, an isolated port, in-phase output port (I-port), and quadrature phase output port (Q-port).

摘要： A sub-harmonically pumped mixer has an anti-parallel diode pair switchable at twice the local oscillator frequency. Preferably, there are provided dual anti-parallel diode pairs. The local oscillator is coupled to the diode pairs by means of an unbalanced to balanced transformer. The balanced output of the transformer is coupled to the diodes and provides anti-phased signals to respective ones of anti-parallel diode pairs.
