    • Disclosed is a voltage controlled oscillator which is prevented from generating an abnormal oscillation signal and realizes reduction in the number of parts used including a large part, a smaller structure as a whole, and a lower manufacturing cost. This voltage controlled oscillator comprises: an oscillation transistor (1 1 ) which operates by common-base connection and outputs an oscillation signal from the emitter; an amplification transistor (1 2 ) which operates by common-emitter connection and whose base receives the oscillation signal; and a resonance circuit (2) connected to the collector of the oscillation transistor. In the resonance circuit, an inductor (2 1 ) for resonance is connected in a d.c. circuit provided between the collector of the oscillation transistor and the emitter of the amplification transistor, and a capacitor for resonance is connected between the collector of the oscillation transistor and an earth point.

    • An arrangement for compensating errors occurent in a quadrature modulator. The modulator includes means (1) for generating quadrature signals (cos a(t), sin a(t)) in the baseband, each of which signals is delivered to a respective branch in the modulator; means (2) for generating two high frequency signals (cos wt, sin wt) with a mutual phase difference of 90 degrees; mixers (3, 4) for mixing the quadrature signals (cos a(t), sin a(t)) with the high frequency signals (cos wt, sin wt) and an adder (5) for producing the sum of the output signals of the mixers (3, 4). Amplitude errors and phase errors are compensated with the aid of a separate compensating network (11, 12, 14, 16, 17, 19, 21) which is incorporated in the low frequency part of the modulator and which includes adjustable signal generating means (14, 16, 19). Local oscillator leakage is compensated with the aid of a second compensating network (13, 15, 18, 20) which is also incorporated in the low frequency part of the modulator and which also includes adjustable signal generating means (15, 18). The signals (k4, k5) from the latter means (15, 18) are subtracted from the signals occuring in the two branches of the modulator.

    • An improved oscillating circuit for use in microwave frequency bands has reduced power loss and is made smaller in vertical size. The local oscillating circuit includes an MMIC oscillator which comprises a FET (9), and a resonator (10) connected thereto so as to stabilize the oscillating frequency of the oscillator. The resonator is ring-shaped and arranged as close as several µm to several tens of µm to a predetermined position of a micro strip line forming a feedback loop connected to the FET forming the oscillator. Moreover, the resonator is a thin film formed by depositing a high-temperature superconducting material. As exemplary embodiments, YBCO, niobium and the like, can be used as high-temperature superconducting materials. Furthermore, a portion of the micro strip line, closest to the resonator, is concentrically disposed therewith to form a circular arc portion whose central angle is set at 90 degrees.
