    • The present invention allows the user to connect the same power strip both to devices which must be often switched on and off, allowing to switch them on and off by means of any infrared remote control, and devices which must always be kept in the "on" mode.
      The presence of the removable element also allows a better flexibility of use for the power strip, since it can be removed and used in an autonomous manner with respect to the power strip itself, e.g., as a charging element for devices such as cellular phones, MP3 readers, IPods, and all the devices which can be charged by means of a USB port.
      The power strip of the invention is provided with a USB port for the connection to a computer. This feature allows to plug in a computer to fixed-voltage sockets together with other peripheral devices which must always be kept in the "on" mode, (such as modems). The USB port gets voltage when the computer is switched on, transmitting the switch-on pulse to the remote-controlled sockets to which the peripheral devices that are to be kept in the "off" mode are connected when the computer is switched off (e.g., loudspeakers, external hard drives, printers, and similar).
      Similarly, when the computer is switched off the USB port is not powered, switching off also the remote-controlled sockets.
