A composite operating device includes an operating member (50) that is operable to rotate and to slide, a slider (30), and a base (10). One of the base (10) and the slider (30) includes a flexible portion (15) that is capable of elastic bending deformation relative to the other, the flexible portion (15) including a first engagement portion (17). The other includes a second engagement portion (35) that retains the slider (30) in the neutral position by engaging with the first engagement portion (17), the second engagement portion (35) being shaped such that it presses against the first engagement portion (17) while being displaced in the sliding direction relative to the first engagement portion (17), thereby causing bending deformation of the flexible portion (15). The first engagement portion (17) and the second engagement portion (35) are shaped such that the amount of deformation of the flexible portion (15) increases with the amount of operation of the operating member (50) in the sliding direction.

摘要： A sensing system with four projected capacitance sensing electrode pairs which allows navigation of a two dimensional space associated with a mobile terminal. Buttons within the space can be selected by mechanical switches that provide haptic feedback. Operation of the switches is detected capacitively or directly. The capacitive coupling between a touch surface and the electrodes is improved by the use of suitable material. Force-dependent navigational or selection input of a user can be detected. Capacitive sensing track pad structures are integrated into traditional tactile keyboards or keypads.
