摘要： A data recording/recovery device (20) comprises a packet generator (34) for including recordable information into a packet (44), the packet initially having a nominal run length limited (RLL) sequence if it were RLL encoded. A randomizer (38) uses a randomizer input value (50) to obtain a modified packet (46) which, when encoded, will at least partially have a different run length limited sequence than the nominal run length limited sequence. A write channel (40) records the modified packet (46) as a track packet at a destination physical location (42) on a storage medium (22). The randomizer input value (50) used to obtain the modified packet (46) is related to a predetermined physical location on the storage medium. In one example embodiment the randomizer input value is related to the destination physical location on the storage medium.

摘要： A digital data recording and reproducing apparatus includes a first recording medium having a first recording capacity, and a second recording medium having a second recording capacity greater than the first recording capacity. An input digital video signal is recorded on the first recording medium as an inward-flow signal. The inward-flow signal is transferred from the first recording medium to the second recording medium each time an amount of the inward-flow signal on the first recording medium reaches a first predetermined amount. The digital video signal is transferred from the second recording medium to the first recording medium as an outward-flow signal. The outward-flow signal is read out from the first recording medium as an output digital video signal. During a search, the outward-flow signal is read out from the first recording medium. During the search, monitoring is made regarding an amount of the outward-flow signal on the first recording medium which has not yet been read out. During the search, the digital video signal is transferred from the second recording medium to the first recording medium when the monitored amount decreases to a second predetermined amount.

If the information in question is not present, the information signals are played back from the first recording medium (83) to write them in the second recording medium (10). Also, information signals stored in one recording and playback apparatus are copied onto the other recording and playback apparatus through the first recording medium (83), thus sharing the library function.

摘要： The effect of video copy-protect signals using differences in the characteristics of television and VCR circuitry is disabled. Copy-protect signals include pseudo-sync pulses and/or added AGC pulses in the video blanking interval. To disable the effect of such copy-protect signals, the effective frequency of the copy-protect signals during the vertical blanking interval is increased to achieve attenuation and/or low pass filtering in the VCR circuitry thereby rendering the signals ineffective in preventing copying.
