The recording device (10) writes encrypted content (15), an encrypted content key (12,13) for decrypting the encrypted content (15), and license information (16) on a recording medium (20) on which a unique media number (21) has been recorded in an unrewritable state. The license information (16) is generated using both the media number (21) and the encrypted content key (13), and therefore reflects both values. The reproduction device (30) reads the media number (21), the encrypted content key (13,23), and the license information (16,22) from the recording medium (20), and judges (36) whether the license information (16,22) reflects both the media number (21) and the encrypted content key (13,23). Only if the license information (16,22) reflects both values, the reproduction device (30) decrypts the encrypted content key (32,33), and decrypts the encrypted content using the content key (12,13). In this way, the copyright protection system (100) allows only original recording media (20) to be reproduced, and prohibits reproduction of copy recording media.

摘要： To provide an information recording medium and an information processing apparatus and method in which the content usage by ensuring copyright protection can be implemented both in CD players and information processing apparatuses, for example, PCs. A license providing condition for a client can be dynamically set based on the content usage status of the client. For example, for clients having a large number of content usages, the license price is decreased, or the license can be provided free. A media ID stored in, for example, a CD, and a product ID as an identifier in, for example, a title unit or an album unit are received from the client. Based on such identification data, the content usage status data can be checked. Accordingly, the licenses can be provided under the reliable management of the content usage.

摘要： A data tracking system comprises a hub (1) for monitoring data transmissions passing through the hub. The hub (1) includes a store of audiovisual data files (2) and also has access to a number of external stores 3 of data files via respective Internet links (4). Data receivers (5), located within geographical territories (6), can access the hub (1) via respective Internet links (7) so as to request selected data files from one or more of the stores (2, 3). Each receiver (5) accesses the hub (1) in order to request a combination of data files in a desired format and for a selected platform. In response, the hub (1) collects the requested files from the appropriate stores combines them into a single file, together with an identity tag, and transmits the combined file and identity tag in an encrypted version to the receiver (5). Data transmissions are monitored in real time by a monitoring station (8), where information from the identity tag is used for accounting purposes.

摘要： Even in the case of copying contents data on a recording medium not compliant with copyright protection, in order to enable the data to be moved to a recording medium compliant with copyright protection, key data to encrypt the contents data is generated per contents data and held in a contents encrypting key memory section 106 in the recording/reproducing device. The contents data is encrypted by the key data in a contents encrypting section 103, while at the same time the key data is encrypted in a key encrypting section 107, both data being recorded together on the HDD 111 not complying with copyright protection. When the contents data is moved to a DVD-RAM 112 of the copyright protection non-compliant recording medium, the key data held in the contents encrypting key memory section 106 is deleted and the contents data cannot be reproduced even by the HDD-DVD recorder 102.
