摘要： A cartridge (6) has a shutter (61) for exposing or closing a disk (60) contained in a shell (9) adapted to move forward/backward. The shell (9) is plugged into a device having a pawl piece (30) for opening the shutter (61) and a spring piece (37) fittable into the shutter (61) and having a height different from that of the pawl piece (30). A slit (5) through which the pawl piece (30) enters is made in a side face of the shell (9) near the shutter (61). A corner portion of the shell (9), near the slit (5), is a butting face (90). A guide groove (50) widened forward is formed at the front end of the slit (5) in the butting face (90). The butting face (90) is arched or slanted. A portion (B) of the butting face (90) at which the movement path thereof and the end of the pawl piece (30) intersect is before a portion (A) at which the movement path and the spring piece (37) intersect.

摘要： A removable cartridge disk drive (100) includes a removable cartridge (20) adapted to be received by a disk drive (100) having a base plate (104) and right (102) and left (103) guide walls. The cartridge (20) inserts into the drive (100) at an angle by means of a movable slider (116) attached to one of the guide walls (102). Once inserted, the cartridge (20) is locked in and held. During operation, a rotary actuator arm (180) with adjustable angular orientation loads one or more read/write heads (182) off of a fixed ramp (176) onto the surface of a data storage disk (42) contained inside the cartridge (20). After read/write operations are finished, the head (182) is unloaded onto the fixed ramp (176) and the cartridge (20) is ejected from the drive (100) at an angle.

摘要： A turn table in an optical disk apparatus in accordance with the present invention is provided with a mount section for use in a mini disk (MD) at the top portion thereof and another mount section for use in a compact disk (CD) at the base portion thereof. This arrangement makes it possible to drive optical disks of different types by the use of the same turn table. Below the turn table, are installed an optical pickup and a base plate that is provided with switches for discriminating whether the MD in question is dedicated solely to reproduction use or is used for both recording and reproduction, and positioning pins for the MD. The optical pickup is also allowed to move in the radial direction of the disk by support members. The optical pickup, the support members and the base plate are integrally moved up and down between a station close to the MD and a station close to the CD. This arrangement eliminates the necessity of an adapter that enables optical disks of different types to be appropriately placed on the turn table, and makes the optical disk apparatus compact by integrating various mechanisms.
