摘要： Movement and/or urging of a developer carrying memer is carried out with high precision. A cartridge that is mountable to an apparatus main assembly of an image forming apparatus, the cartridge includes a developing roller; a frame supporting the developing roller; a movable part movably supported by the frame and movable to a first position and to a second position relative to the frame; and an elastic part provided between the frame and the movable part to urge the movable part. The movable part includes a first force receiving part that receives force from the apparatus main assembly, in a direction of moving from the first position to the second position, and a second force receiving part that receives force from the apparatus main assembly, in a direction of moving from the second position to the first position. When the movable part receives force from the apparatus main assembly at the first force receiving part and is at the second position, the movable part receives urging force from the elastic part in a direction of moving the movable part from the second position to the first position.

摘要： An electrophotographic photosensitive drum unit usable with a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, the main assembly including a driving shaft, to be driven by a motor, having a rotational force applying portion, wherein said electrophotographic photosensitive drum unit is mountable to the main assembly in a mounting direction substantially perpendicular to an axial direction of the driving shaft, said electrophotographic drum unit comprising: i) an electrophotographic photosensitive drum having a photosensitive layer at a peripheral surface thereof, said electrophotographic photosensitive drum being rotatable about an axis thereof; ii) a coupling member engageable with said rotational force applying portion to receive a rotational force for rotating said electrophotographic photosensitive drum, said coupling member being capable of taking a rotational force transmitting angular position for transmitting the rotational force for rotating said electrophotographic photosensitive drum to said electrophotographic photosensitive drum, and a pre-engagement angular position in which said coupling member is inclined away from the axis of said electrophotographic photosensitive drum from said rotational force transmitting angular position, wherein when said electrophotographic drum unit is mounted to the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus in the mounting direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of said electrophotographic photosensitive drum, said coupling member moves from said pre-engagement angular position to said rotational force transmitting angular position.

摘要： A process cartridge is disclosed integrally supporting an electrophotographic photosensitive member, an intermediate transfer belt, a primary-transfer means for transferring a toner image primarily from the electrophotographic photosensitive member to the intermediate transfer belt, a charge-providing means for providing the toner on the intermediate transfer belt with electric charges having a polarity reverse to the polarity the toner has at the time of the primary transfer and returning the toner on the intermediate transfer belt to the electrophotographic photosensitive member at the contact zone to clean the intermediate transfer belt, and an electrophotographic-photosensitive-member cleaning means. The process cartridge is dividable into an electrophotographic photosensitive member unit and an intermediate transfer belt unit and has a joining means which joins the two units. The peripheral length and average thickness of the intermediate transfer belt and the diameter of at least one of rollers over and around which the intermediate transfer belt is placed satisfy specific conditions. Also disclosed are an electrophotographic apparatus having this process cartridge, and an image-forming method making use of the electrophotographic apparatus.

摘要： An image-forming machine comprises a main body (2) and a process unit (8) detachably mounted on the main body. A supporting-guiding means (416) is mounted in the main body (2) for moving between an elevated position and a lowered position and the process unit (8) is comprised of a first unit (102) and a second unit (104) separably combined with each other.
