The film units each have an access code (128;42;44;46;134) that can be accessed independent of a filmstrip or digital image store. The look-up table has a read-write logical memory unit (20) allocated to each of the film units (10). The logical memory units (20) each have an access right secured by a respective access code. In a method, the access code (128) is generated, the logical memory unit (20) is allocated to the film unit (10), and the film unit is sold or otherwise transferred.
