摘要： A technique includes processing first data indicative of a first image of a subsurface region of interest on a machine to generate second data indicative of a second image. The first image is derived from measurements of seismic waves, which propagate in a plurality of directions, and the second image is generated by partitioning the first image based on the directions. The technique includes processing the second data to determine a dip decomposition for each of the directions; and based on the dip decompositions and the directions, generating an angle domain common image gather.

摘要： Method for building a subsurface model of velocity or other elastic property from seismic reflection data using tomography. The method uses velocity scans to pick a focusing velocity model at each image point (40). The focusing velocities are used to pick depth errors from tables (60) generated using a tomographic inversion matrix (30) and a suite of different velocity models (10). The depth errors are then reconstructed at each image point from the velocity scans based on the difference between the base velocity model and the most coherent velocity from the scan (70). The reconstructed depth errors are used to compute the velocity model update (80).

摘要： A method of analyzing measured microseismic events obtained from monitoring induced hydraulic fracturing of underground geological formations, the method involving (a) postulating the location of an evolving planar fracture, having a temporal and spatial trajectory based on a fracture propagation model requiring knowledge of the material properties of the geology, an initiation point and at least two measured microseismic events that fit the postulated fracture trajectory; (b) assessing whether additional measured microseismic events are sufficiently close to the temporal and spatial trajectory to be considered to be occurring as part of the propagation of the fracture; (c) determining whether the postulated fracture trajectory is statistically significant by comparing the number of microseismic events which are sufficiently close with a statistical baseline number; (d) repeating steps (a) to (c) as necessary until at least one plausible fracture plane consistent with the measured events is found is provided.

摘要： Method for building a seismic imaging velocity model, particularly at the boundary of a geo-body, and to perform imaging, by taking into account the elastic reflection and scattering information in the seismic data. More illumination of the base and flanks (or in general, the boundary) of the geo-body is provided from (a) inside of the geo-body (502), with elastically converted waves at the geo-body boundary used (via elastic RTM flooding); and (b) from outside the geo-body (503), by utilizing prism waves with elastic RTM to handle the phase correctly in the model building step. The increased illumination and correct elastic phase are used for geo-body boundary determination. Elastic RTM is then applied (505), along with the elastically derived imaging velocity model, to maximize the use of elastic energy in the imaging step, and to obtain the correct image with the correct phase.
