    • In a case where operation of a power conversion apparatus stops due to occurrence of a short circuit malfunction, a user cannot specify a point where a short circuit occurs, that is, whether or not the short circuit malfunction occurs on a cable, or whether or not the short circuit malfunction occurs within a motor. Provided is a power conversion apparatus that includes a plurality of switching elements and that drives a motor which is connected through a cable, by performing control that turns on and off the plurality of switching element, the apparatus including: an inverter circuit that is configured with a plurality of switching elements that are upper arms for controlling current for a motor and a plurality of switching element that are lower arms; and a determination unit that determines a short circuit point, in which, when an inter-phase short circuit point that occurs in the motor and the cable is inspected, the determination unit causes short circuit current to be generated by turning on the switching elements that are one upper arm and one lower arm which are in different phases, at the same time, and, based on current increasing speed when a short circuit occurs and a current decreasing speed after the short circuit occurs, determines a short circuit point.
