    • A test fixture (198) for determining circumferential shear properties of an arcuate test specimen (100) may include an outer fixture (220) and an inner fixture (200). The inner fixture (200) and the outer fixture (220) may be configured such that application of a test load (280) to the rocker arm (228) and the load arm (204) causes rotation thereof about the central pin (240) producing circumferential movement of the inner side (104) relative to the outer side (106) and inducing a circumferential shear load (150) in the test specimen (100).

    • A method and apparatus for determining structural properties of corrugated paperboard in which a sample 21 is held between two axially aligned jaws 13 and 14. The sample is subjected to a twisting force by rotation of one of the jaws and the force and angle of deflection are measured. This gives a relative determination of the boards structural property and is used to assess damage to the corrugated medium during corrugation and subsequent processing steps such as printing. The determination of shear stiffness in the machine direction is a more reliable measure of board damage than board thickness.
