    • An archery apparatus includes a frame or riser (12) and a pair of resilient limbs (22, 24) extending in opposite directions therefrom. A harness (90) adapted to be worn by the archer includes a bowstring release mechanism (118) for selectively holding and releasing the bowstring (34) adjacent to the nocking point. In operation, the archer, after putting the harness (90) on, secures the bowstring (34) to the bowstring release mechanism (118) and flexes the bow limbs (22, 24) by forcing the frame (12) away from his or her body with both arms. The archer then aims the arrow toward a desired target and actuates the bowstring release mechanism (118) to propel the arrow toward the target.
