    • The invention relates to a cooling unit for a commercial cabinet and a cabinet thereof. The cooling unit comprises a base and two or more top elements which together form two or more enclosed areas in which the components of the cooling unit are arranged. The base element comprises two or more inlets and two or more outlets arranged at opposite ends of the cooling unit. The inlets and outlets are connected via two or more cooling channels having an optimised dynamic shape. The compressor is placed in an enclosed area where air is drawn in through the condenser via one or more ventilators for leading heat away from the cooling unit. This provides a compact cooling unit with a low noise level that is easy to assemble and mount. The base and top elements protects the encapsulated components from external impacts and water splashes; thus, increasing the safety and reducing the transportation costs. This configuration allows the energy consumption to be optimised.

    • The pull-down cooling characteristic representing the mode of variation with time of the target temperature fall in a pull-down cooling range is stored as data in a storage unit (49). If this characteristic is represented by, e.g., a straight line xp of a linear function, the target in-storage temperature fall rate is a constant Ap independently of the in-storage temperature. When pull-down control is started, the in-storage temperature is detected every predetermined sampling time. If the calculated value Sp is the target value Ap or less, the rotational speed of an inverter compressor (32) is increased through an inverter circuit (50); contrarily if the calculated value Sp is above the target value Ap, the rotational speed of the compressor (32) is decreased. While repeating this, pull-down cooling is performed following the straight line xp.
