    • The present invention provides a semiconductor-type light source 2, a lens 35, a heat sink member 4, a light control member 6, a driving member 7, and a cover member 8. The cover member 8 is fixed to a fixing surface of the heat sink member 4 such a manner as to be integrated with the semiconductor-type light source 2. The light control member 6 is mounted to the cover member 8 in such a manner as to be changeably movable between a first location and a second location. As a result, the present invention is capable of reducing dispersion in relative position between the semiconductor-type light source 2 and the light control member 6, and reducing dispersion between a light distribution pattern for low beam LP and a light distribution pattern for high beam HP.

    • A vehicle light (1) comprising a single light source (2a) capable of switching its light distribution pattern between a low-beam mode and a high-beam mode by a movable portion (7, 17), a first reflecting surface (3) whose longitudinal direction is along an optical axis X of the vehicle light (1), and having a first focus (f1) in the vicinity of the light source (2a), for reflecting light rays from the light source (2a) to the forward, a projection lens (9), and a shutter (6) for providing a predetermined shape to the light rays from the first reflecting surface (3) on formation of the low-beam mode light distribution pattern by being selectively inserted in the luminous flux from the first reflecting surface (3) to the projection lens (9): further comprising a second reflecting surface (4) of an ellipse group reflecting surface having its first focus (f1) approximately on the light source (2a) and its second focus (f4) at a predetermined position; at least one third reflecting surface (5, 5a, 5b) having a first focus (f5) in a predetermined position and at least one second focus (f5a, f5b) in at least one predetermined position; a fourth reflecting surface (8) having a focus (f8) approximately on the second focus (f4) of the second reflecting surface (4) for reflecting light rays to a predetermined forward direction; wherein when the third reflecting surface (5, 5a, 5b) is located in its inserted position relative to the luminous flux from the second reflecting surface (4) to the fourth reflecting surface (8), the first focus (f5) of the at least one third reflecting surface (5a, 5b) is substantially on the second focus (f4) of the second reflecting surface (4); and wherein the movable portion (7) comprises the shutter (6) and the at least one third reflecting surface (5, 5a, 5b).

    • A head light system for a vehicle using a discharge lamp provides low beam mode and high beam mode, together with glare stop structure. The head light system comprises a discharge lamp (4) mounted on a base plate (1), a shade (7) for selectively and partially shading light source (5) of said discharge lamp (4), and a moving means (K) for sliding said shade (7) relative to said discharge lamp (4) along an arrow (X) in longitudinal direction of said discharge lamp (4). Said shade (7) has a leg (7b) which penetrates said base plate (1), and said leg (7b) is coupled with an iron piece (9) in a solenoid (8) which is fixed to a rod (6) fixed under said base plate (1). Said iron piece (9) is urged by a spring (10) so that shade plane (7a) of the shade (7) covers partially the light source (5) of the discharge lamp (4) when said solenoid is not energized so that low beam mode is provided. When said solenoid (8) is energized and pulls said iron piece (9) against the spring (10), said shade (7) slides so that said light source (5) is free from the shade plane (7a) to provide high beam mode.
