The spur gear transmission according to the invention is characterized in that the part of the two spur gears or of the one spur gear, said part protruding out of the enveloping wall, is positioned on the lower face of the spur gears.

A recess (29H) in which to dispose an upstream end of a pinion gear shaft portion (33A) is provided at a downstream end of a drive shaft (29). The recess (29H) and the upstream end of the pinion gear shaft portion (33A) are splined coupled with each other so that the drive shaft (29) and the pinion gear (33) can be rotated as one body and relatively moved in an axial direction. A space (S1) permitting relative movement between the drive shaft (29) and the pinion gear (33) in the axial direction is provided between the pinion gear (33) and the recess (29H). In addition, the pinion gear (33) is provided with a hollow portion (33X) which pierces the pinion gear (33) in the axial direction and conducts the oil to the space portion (S1).
