摘要： An exhaust gas control apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes an addition valve (42), a tank (41), a urea water passage (43), a pump (44), a nitrogen oxides catalyst (31), and an electronic control unit (10). The electronic control unit (10) is configured to: (i) control the pump (44), as a first control, such that a specified amount of the urea water stored in the addition valve (42) and the urea water passage (43) is returned to the tank (41) after the internal combustion engine is stopped; (ii) control the pump (44), as a second control, such that the specified amount or more of the urea water in the tank (41) is discharged from the tank (41) to the urea water passage (43) after the first control is executed; and (iii) control the pump (44), as a third control, such that all the urea water stored in the addition valve (42) and the urea water passage (43) is returned to the tank after the second control is executed.

摘要： In an internal combustion engine, an exhaust purification catalyst and a hydrocarbon feed valve are arranged in an exhaust passage. When the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas which flows into the exhaust purification catalyst should be made rich, rich control, which makes the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas which is exhausted from the combustion chamber rich, is performed. In order to prevent clogging of the hydrocarbon feed valve, clogging preventing injection which injects hydrocarbons from the hydrocarbon feed valve by an injection interval ”tCB is performed. The exhaust purification catalyst has an oxygen storage ability. At the initial period of rich control, clogging preventing injection is performed by a shorter injection interval ”tCS.

[Means for Resolution] A reducing agent supply apparatus, including: a storage tank for storing liquid reducing agent; a pump for pumping the reducing agent; a reducing agent injection valve for injecting the reducing agent pumped by the pump in an exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine; and a reducing agent passage connecting the pump to the reducing agent injection valve, wherein, when the internal combustion engine stops, a purge process of collecting the reducing agent in the reducing agent passage into the storage tank is performed, and wherein, on part of the reducing agent passage, a siphon function portion is provided for, even when, at the start of the internal combustion engine, the reducing agent injection valve is in injection failure due to solidification of the reducing agent in the reducing agent injection valve, causing some of the reducing agent to reach the reducing agent injection valve after the start of the pump to cause the solidified reducing agent to melt.

A method for adjusting and controlling the actual supplied amount of urea entering an exhaust system is also disclosed. The present device and method effectively prevent the excessive urea from being injected into the exhaust system, and enable the original exhaust system to match with stricter emission standards through a low cost improvement.
