    • The invention relates to an adjustable axial piston machine having a housing (1), a pivot cradle and a bearing shell (2) which is arranged between the housing (1) and the pivot cradle. The bearing shell comprises a bearing section (21) in the shape of an annular section with an inner end (230, 230') and a bearing shell end region (22.1, 22.2) which extends in one plane with an outer end (23, 23'). A bearing surface (40.1, 40.2), the geometry of which corresponds to the bearing section, is provided on the housing (1). Here, an outer supporting force point (23.1, 23.3) at the outer end (23.1', 23.3') and an inner supporting force point (23.2, 23.4) at the inner end (230, 230') lie on a straight line (24.1, 24.2) which extends on the inner supporting force point (23.2, 23.4) tangentially with respect to the bearing section (21). If a force is present in the circumferential direction of the bearing section (21), the inner supporting force point (23.2, 23.4) and the outer supporting force point (23.1, 23.3) are subjected to a supporting force substantially parallel to the straight line (24.1, 24.2).

    • A follow up mechanism (10) for maintaining a timed positional relationship between a bearing cage (35,36) of an arcuate roller bearing assembly (24,26) and a swashplate (19) supported by the bearing assembly (24,26) includes a flexural elastic link (41) pivotally connected to the bearing cage (35,36) and having first and second ends (42,43) slidably disposed within a first bore (48,49) in a pump housing (14) and a second bore (51,52) in the swashplate (19), respectively. The bores (48,51;49,52) are in axial alignment with each other when the swashplate (19) is in the equivalent of its centered position thereby allowing blind assembly of the follow up mechanism (10) thereby eliminating the need for an access opening in the side of the pump housing (14) and the associated cover, gasket and bolts.

In a first embodiment an outer circumferential surface of a trunnion shaft (160) includes at least one suction groove (162) that forms a pocket portion (162a) between the suction groove (162) and the inner surface of the bearing portion (205). The pocket portion (162a) is opened to an inner space of housing on at least one side in an axis line direction of the trunnion shaft (160). In a second embodiment an outer circumferential surface of the trunnion shaft (160) includes a large diameter portion (165) at a middle part, an outer side small diameter portion (166a) and an inner side small diameter portion (166b).

The guide element (19) is connected in a swivelling manner to the cage segment (15) and to the other swivel bearing part (13c) by a respective pivot bearing (21, 22). In order to improve the guidance of the cage segment (15), the guide element (19) is connected to the cage segment (15) in a displaceable manner in its longitudinal direction by a longitudinal guide (23) in the region of its pivot bearing (22) connected to the cage segment (15) and is connected to the other swivel bearing part (13c) in a rotatable manner and in such a way as to be fixed in its longitudinal direction by the associated pivot bearing (21) in the region of its end area connected to the other swivel bearing part (13c).
