    • The invention relates to a protection sleeve (5) for covering the outer surface of a tubular member (502) of a drilling system between a first and a second end of the tubular member (502), comprising a preferably tubular flexible sleeve (504) with two ends, wherein the sleeve (504) is preferably leakage-proof attached or attachable to an end of the tubular member (502), and an end of the sleeve (504) is attached to an entrance arrangement (505) which is preferably leakage-proof attached or attachable to the outer surface of the tubular member (502) in such a way, that a closed annulus chamber (508) between the outer surface of the tubular member (502) and the sleeve (504) is created which extends from an end of the tubular member (502) to the entrance arrangement (505), wherein means are provided to pressurize the annulus chamber (508) in such a way that the sleeve (504) expands radially. The invention further relates to the use of such a protection sleeve in a drilling system, and a drilling system with such a protection sleeve.

    • A method and apparatus are provided for securing a protective sleeve or wear sleeve to a rotary component which is rotatable relative to a rotary seal, such that the wear sleeve is in relatively rotating sealing engagement with the rotary seal. The wear sleeve is secured to the shaft by wedging a lock ring between the wear sleeve and the shaft. Wedging action of the lock ring can be effected by wedging formations, such as tapered surfaces, configured for causing wedging of the lock ring in response to operator-induced axial movement of the lock ring relative to the shaft and/or the wear sleeve. Wedging of the lock ring can be effected by co-operating screw threads on the lock ring and the wear sleeve, so that an operator can tighten the sleeve on the shaft by application of torque thereto.
