摘要： An extendable/retractable ladder assembly (100) includes a first stile (104) and a second stile (106) and a plurality of rungs (118, 120, 150) extending therebetween. Each stile may comprise a plurality of columns (108, 110, 112, 114) disposed in a nested arrangement for relative axial movement in a telescopic fashion. A connector assembly (116) connects the rungs to respective columns in the first and second stiles. The ladder has improved manufacturability since connector assemblies may be assembled before connecting the rungs to respective columns. The standing surface of the rungs may be angled such that it is rotated towards horizontal when the ladder assembly is leaned against a wall. A latch assembly may be used to selectively lock relative axial movement between adjacent columns. The latch assembly includes a locking pin assembly comprised of a central post and an outer metal sleeve. An air damper may also be used to control airflow through the columns.

Further, each of the rungs includes a pair of U-shaped openings and a pair of grooves formed within the U-shaped openings for receiving and cooperating with one of the rung anchors and the corresponding load bearing flange. Finally, a plurality of retainer pins are provided for removably securing the rungs to the rung anchors.

摘要： A structural support assembly, more particularly incorporating a joint useful in the preparation of structural support assemblies such as ladders, scaffolds and trusses. The joint has a male member (42) with an open-ended hollow projection which defines an inner wall and an outer wall. The joint also has a wooden female member having a socket defined by a groove in the form of a closed loop having opposing walls. The projection of the male member is fitted in a clearance fit in the socket and is secured therein by a binding material which contacts the inner and outer walls of the projection and the opposing walls of the socket. The binding material also permeates the female member surrounding the socket. A process for the preparation of such structural supports is also described.

摘要： A stair step (1) of the plate-shaped step type comprises plate members (7, 8, 9, 10) bent downwards from the stepping surface (2) at all four rims (3, 4, 5, 6), said plate members being welded together at the corners where they abut one another. The plate members (7, 8, 9, 10) at the front and rear rims are rolled over to form cylindrical pipes (11, 12) in such a manner that the plate member (7) at the front rim (3) is rounded at the bottom whereby it is avoided that a foot gets jammed between the steps of a staircase. The cylindrical pipes (11, 12) are filled with a foamed insulating material, such as polyurethane foam.
