摘要： A metal door has a unitary rectangular frame (2) of generally uniform cross section providing stiles (4) and rails (6), and a pair of substantially rectangular panels (5) which are secured to the frame (2). The panels (5) have opposed flanges (10) overlying and engaged with the adjacent side margins (33) of the stiles (4) of the frame (2) to secure the panels (5) thereto. The door is fabricated by forming an elongate metal strip into a frame element (2) of generally uniform cross section with channels (35) between a generally planar central portion (31) and inwardly offset marginal portions (37). A predetermined length of the strip is bent to form a substantially rectangular frame (2), the ends of which are fastened together. The panels (5) have lips (12) on their flanges (10) and are assembled to the frame (2) with the flanges (10) inserted into the channels (35) and the lips (12) frictionally engaging the side walls thereof.

The door of the present invention consists of a single metal sheet installed within the perimetric door frame. 摘要： A door panel (1) has a peripheral frame (10) of extruded aluminium and a honeycomb core of plastics material tubes (11). An outer skin (2) of fibre-reinforced polyetherimide material is recessed with a pattern (3) formed in a preliminary operation of vacuum/pressure forming at elevated temperature. An inner skin (4) is plane. Edge channel members (5) of similarly formed, but thicker material are arranged around the edges of the door, enclosing the aluminium frame. A non- woven, polyester based scrim 6 extends across either side of the core and over the flanges (7) of the edge channels. For bonding of the core, skin and edge channels together, the assembly is placed in a jig and compressed at elevated temperature in a heated press. The core is crushed at the recessed pattern (3) and the scrim melts and acts as a hot melt adhesive. On cooling of the press platens, the assembled door is removed from the jig.
