摘要： Provided are methods for obtaining modified polyarylene sulfide compositions having improved thermal and thermo-oxidative stability, the compositions so obtained, and articles comprising the compositions. The method comprises the steps of contacting, in the presence of a suitable solvent, a polyarylene sulfide with at least one reducing agent and at least base to form a first mixture. The reducing agent comprises zinc(0), tin(0), tin(II), bismuth (0), bismuth(III), or a combination thereof. The first mixture is heated to form a second mixture in which the polyarylene sulfide is dissolved. The polyarylene sulfide is then precipitated to obtain a modified polyarylene sulfide.

摘要： A hydrazine-fixing group such as a ketone group, a formyl group, a chlormethyl group or an amide group, which is capable of releasably fixing hydrazine, is introduced into a side chain of a synthetic resin, and hydrazine is fixed to the hydrazine-fixing group. Since a hydrazine storage resin of the present invention has a hydrazine-releasable group capable of releasing hydrazine, it is able to store hydrazine stably. In addition, hydrazine can be supplied by releasing hydrazine from the hydrazine-releasable group. Consequently, the hydrazine storage resin can be widely used in various industrial fields requiring supply of hydrazine.

摘要： A process for the purification of polyarylene sulfide which comprises washing polyarylene sulfide with either a mixture of an aprotic organic solvent with a haloalkyl compound or a mixture prepared by adding a halogenated aromatic compound having an electron-withdrawing group to an aprotic organic solvent. This process makes it possible to decrease the amount of impurities (such as halogenated alkali metal compounds) contained in polyarylene sulfide, thus giving thermally stable polyarylene sulfide.

The invention provides a process for heat oxidation crosslinking a polyarylene sulfide resin, characterized by conducting the heat oxidation crosslinking reaction in the presence of at least one organic compound having at least one active-hydrogen-containing group or at least one organic compound having at least one active-hydrogen-containing group and a group derived from an active hydrogen containing group by substituting an active hydrogen of the active hydrogen containing group with an alkali metal, to thereby prepare a functional group-containing polyarylene sulfide resin.

摘要： A polyarylene sulfide resin composition contains a polyarylene sulfide containing at least one group selected from a group consisting of an amino group and an amide group, a polyamide resin, an epoxy resin and, as needed, a filler. A further composition contains 100 parts by weight of the polyarylene sulfide, 0.05 to 5 parts of the epoxy resin, and 5 to 400 parts of the filler. Another type of the resin composition contains the polyarylene sulfide, the polyamide, a compound selected from an acid, an acid anhydride and an acid halide, each having in its molecule not less than two functional groups reactive with the amino group or the amide group, and, as needed, the filler. A further type of the resin composition contains the polyarylene sulfide, the compound and, as needed, an inorganic filler subjected to surface treatment with a silane type coupling agent. A still further type of the resin composition contains the polyarylene sulfide and the compound. A still further type of the resin composition contains the polyarylene sulfide and the inorganic filler subjected to surface treatment with an epoxysilane type coupling agent.
