摘要： A solid propellant gas generator (10) contains a bed of agglomerated or beaded hydrated gelatin (40). The gelatin/water bed (40) is oriented such that at least substantially filtered combustion products are humidified by the water vapor as the filtered combustion products pass over the bed (40). Relative thereto, a method of improving the release and inflation of an airbag (160) of a vehicle occupant protection system is also described. Humidification of at least substantially filtered combustion products results in a reduced pressure requirement to open and inflate a stored airbag (160) in fluid communication with the gas generator (10).

摘要： A pyrotecnic composition that emits essentially only infrared radiation upon combustion contains at least one peroxide component, an oxidizer that is more energetic than the peroxide component, a coolant, a binder and silicon. In one embodiment, the peroxide component is a mixture of strontium peroxide and barium peroxide, the oxidizer more energetic than the peroxide component is barium nitrate, the coolant is magnesium carbonate, the binder is calcium resonate and the silicon has a minimum purity of 99.9 %. The pyrotechnic composition is useful as the combustible component of an infrared tracer.

To increase the safety of the explosive in flammable atmospheres, such as in coal mines, from 7% to 15% w/w of at least one of the following cooling agents is dissolved in the discontnuous phase: sulphonate, phosphonate, ammonium halide, alkali metal halide, alkaline earth metal halide, or a soluble phosphate salt. Preferably at least 20% of cooling agent is distributed between the continuous and discontinuous phases, with at least about 7% preferably about 12% present in the discontinuous phase.
