    • The invention relates to a positioning area (EB) for a route (1), wherein the route (1) has at least one guide rail (2, 3), and the guide rail (2, 3) is used as guidance for a current collector carriage (11) having current collector contacts (12) of a current collector system (10) arranged on a vehicle that can be moved along the route (1). The route (1) has at least one route busbar (5), wherein in the positioning area (EB), the current collector carriage (11) can be adjusted horizontally and vertically to the route (1) by means of a positioning device of the current collector system (10). The invention is characterized in that at least one additional busbar (5') is arranged in the vicinity of the positioning area (EB), or that at least one route busbar (5) extends and/or is extended beyond at least one guide rail (2, 3) of the route (1) all the way to the positioning area (EB).

    • Disclosed is a sliding lock-on device for track-bound wheeled vehicles including a member (12) and a grounding pad (14). A first end (16) of the member (12) is configured to be connected to a guide frame (64) of a rail vehicle. The grounding pad (14) is attached to a second end (18) of the member. The grounding pad may be attached to the member in any location suitable for collecting ground from a guide beam (44) during use. A pair of lock-on devices is installed on the vehicle, such that one is located on each side of the guide beam. Since the lock-on device is attached to the guide frame (64) of the vehicle and engages the underneath of the guide beam (44), any force tending to tip the vehicle will cause the lock-on device to "grab" the guide beam. The relationship of the guide beam (44) and the grounding pad (14) prevents the vehicle from tipping. Thus, track jumping and roll over are inhibited.

    • A monorail system for passenger and light freight transportation provides a support structure (14) with an essentially planar top surface (12) and a stabilizer guide rail (18) having a vertical web portion (22) supporting a head portion (24). The head (24) guides a vehicle along the top surface (12) while conductors (76) secured to the web portion (22) transmit electrical current to the vehicle (30) through a current collector (78) secured to the vehicle (30). A portion of the stabilizer guide rail (300) may be flexible providing a simple, inexpensive device for switching the vehicle (30) between a plurality of tracks. The system operates equally well with a variety of vehicle propulsions and suspension systems including electro-mechanical, magnetic levitation or linear electric motors. In a preferred embodiment, the width of the support structure's top surface (12) is approximately half the width of the vehicle (30), and the side of the web portion (22) opposite the side having the conductor (76) includes control conduits (90) that transmit command signals to the vehicle (30) through a communications connector (92) secured to the vehicle (30).
