摘要： The purpose of the present invention is to provide a thermal transfer sheet which can prevent a kick and a scumming, and can form a photographic tone color image of high quality with a continuous tone image by sublimation transfer, while expanding the range of choices for colorants to be included in a colorant layer; a coating liquid for colorant layer to be used for forming the colorant layer of this thermal transfer sheet; a method for manufacturing this thermal transfer sheet; and image forming method employing this thermal transfer sheet. The problem is solved by a thermal transfer sheet (1) in which at least a colorant layer (3) is layered on a substrate sheet (2), wherein the colorant layer (3) contains a predetermined solvent, a colorant (10x) dispersible in the predetermined solvent, a dispersant, and a binder resin, and the dispersant being one or more selected from the group consisting of polyether-based dispersants, graft type polymer dispersants, acryl-based block type polymer dispersants, urethane-based polymer dispersants and azo-based dispersants.

At least part of a heat generation portion (26) of the thermal head (5), on the upstream side in the feed direction (y) of the printing material (100), is divided into a plurality of separate portions (26a). A plurality of individual electrode portions (27) are arranged on the upstream side of the separate portions, and a common electrode portion (28) is arranged on a downstream side of the heat generation portion (26). A flat pressurizing surface (S) is formed within the heat generation portion (26) and the common electrode portion (28). To provide an improved surface flatness for the protective layer (53), the arithmetic mean roughness RA defined in JIS B 0601 is set to a value not more than 30 nm at an interface on the side of the substrate sheet of the protective layer.

The dye transfer sheet of the present invention can be used in a multiple-use mode printing system including a relative speed printing.

摘要： A thermal transfer recording medium such as a color thermal transfer paper or ribbon which is used in combination with a thermal head or pen to print an image on an image forming body or sheet. The thermal transfer recording medium comprises a polyester supporting film (1), a first thermal transfer layer (2) formed on the supporting film (1), which consists mainly of a saturated polyester copolymer having a molecular weight of 8,000 to 30,000 and containing a sublimation or hot-melt transfer dye. A second thermal transfer layer (4) containing a dye as that of the first transfer layer may be formed on the first transfer layer. The thermal transfer image forming body comprises a supporting body (5), a dyeing image forming layer (6) formed on the supporting body and made mainly of a thermoplastic resin having four or more OH group per molecule, a tensile break strength of 300 kg/cm² or more and tensile break elongation of 20% or more, and a surface layer (7) made of a silicone resin.
