摘要： An inkjet printhead includes: a substrate having a drive circuitry layer; a plurality of nozzle assemblies disposed on an upper surface of the substrate and arranged in one or more nozzle rows extending longitudinally along the printhead; a nozzle plate extending across the printhead; and a conductive track disposed on the nozzle plate which extends longitudinally along the printhead and parallel with the nozzle rows. The conductive track is connected to a common reference plane in the drive circuitry layer via a plurality of conductor posts extending between the drive circuitry layer and the conductive track.

摘要： A pagewidth inkjet printer is described which includes printhead (11) with a plurality of print nozzles (30) for ejecting ink drops towards a print medium. A space is defined between the nozzles and a nozzle guard (43) with a series of apertures (44) aligned with the nozzles. During printing operation, positive air pressure is supplied to this space, the air exiting the space through the apertures, preventing blockage by paper dust. When not printing, the air supply is closed off by air valve member (66) and a capping member (80) on a rotary platen (14) contacts the printhead to maintain a closed atmosphere at the surface of the nozzles, reducing drying of ink on the nozzles.

摘要： A method of detecting a fault within a micro electro-mechanical device in the form of an ink ejection nozzle having an actuating arm that moves an ink displacing paddle when heat inducing electric current is passed through the actuating arm and having a movement sensor associated with the actuating arm. The method comprises the steps of passing at least one current pulse having a predetermined duration through the actuating arm and detecting for a predetermined level of movement of the actuating arm. If a fault is detected to exist, as indicated by an insufficient level of movement of the actuating arm, at least one further current pulse having an energy level greater than the fault detecting pulse may be passed through the actuating arm in an attempt to clear the fault.

摘要： A method is disclosed for controlling liquid movement to and from a liquid ejection device (1) (such as an ink jet printing device). The device has a nozzle chamber (2), a liquid ejection aperture (4) in the nozzle chamber and a movable element (60) located within the chamber for displacing liquid through the ejection aperture. The method comprises displacing the movable element (60) so that it moves from a quiescent first position to a liquid ejecting second position with a first average velocity, then returning it from the second position to the first position with a second average velocity which is lower than the first average velocity.
